Theresa Volpe

Theresa Mary Volpe has been an avid music student since the age of four, studying piano, violin, organ, voice, classical and sacred music with faculty and graduates of Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, St. Olaf’s College, and more. She has a degree in vocal performance from Molloy College, having graduated as valedictorian with numerous honors in 2018.
As a singer, Theresa has performed in recitals, opera workshops, choirs, and concerts throughout LI and the three boroughs. Her performing has even taken her to Italy, where she participated in Classic Lyric Arts “La lingua della lirica” program with 19 other young singers. Other credits include Respiro Opera’s Young Artist Program, Metropolitan Catholic Chorale, masterclasses with world-class musicians and professionals such as Cori Ellison, and roles such as Susanna (“Le Nozze di Figaro”), Blanche (“Dialogues of the Carmelites”), Rosalinde (“Die Fledermaus”), Susan B. Anthony (“The Mother of Us All”) in Molloy College’s Opera Workshop. Her senior recital was: “Longing, Loss, Grief, and Wonder: The Four Seasons” (Music by Mozart, Handel, Schumann, Mahler, Faure, Beach, and Finzi). She has also been working for over a decade as a cantor and choir leader on Long Island.
In addition to her vocal expertise, Theresa is also a skilled organist, pianist, accompanist, and conductor. She is a certified Colleague of the American Guild of Organists, and has been working as an organist for over a decade. She was a three-time recipient of the Suffolk AGO organ scholarships, and has performed in recitals at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, St. John’s in Cold Spring Harbor, St. Patrick’s in Huntington, St. Agnes Cathedral, and more. She is a skilled accompanist with experience in accompanying vocalists and instrumentalists for auditions and NYSSMA. While in college, Theresa was a student assistant conductor for the Concert Choir and Sinfonietta. Theresa also interned with American Lyric Theatre for an orchestral workshop of a new opera, “La Reina.” Additionally, Theresa music directed several seasons of Long Island Classics Stage Company’s summer theatre program, helping to plan, teach, and produce a showcase of classic musical theatre numbers and scenes from classic plays. Theresa’s musical pursuits have also led her to further education, in sacred music through St. Cecilia’s Academy in Dunwoodie, and conducting at Juilliard’s Evening Division.
Theresa is a skillful, joyful, empathetic, and versatile collaborative musician. She loves fostering a holistic appreciation for music (theoretical, technical, and historical) within herself and her students. Theresa lives in Huntington with her husband and three sweet children. Their house is always full of music!
