Saya Harada
Ballet/Character/Choreographer
Ms. Harada currently teaches ballet, Pointe and choreography at Arts Cure Center (Queens) and Huntington Center for Performing Arts. As a part of internship she also worked at American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School as a class assistant teacher and a summer intensive counselor. Saya is the first Japanese citizen who obtained both MA in Dance Education/ABT ballet pedagogy from NYU and certification as an American Ballet Theatre certified ballet teacher, who completed the ABT® National Training Curriculum Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7.
Saya is from Hyogo, Japan. Saya was a company member of Sadamatsu-Hamada Junior Ballet Company for years in Kobe. She danced major soloist roles in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Le Sylphide, and other classical ballets. In NYC, she has performed with Sokolow Theatre Ensemble, 277 Danceproject and Azul Dance Theatre. She also works as a choreographer and has choreographed “A Midnight Spring Dream ~Yozakura~”(2009), “An Abyss of Lament”(2010). She has worked with Long Island Ballet Theatre since 2013 and choreographed “In Your Hands”(2013), “Splash!” (2014) and “Presence”(2014). In 2015 she will choreograph two pieces for Long Island Ballet Theatre which will be performed at the LI Dance Consortium’s “Celebration of Dance” in April. She also directed the new production “Urashima”(2012), and choreographed the production “Princess Kaguya~A Lady from the Moon” (2013 &2014) all presented by Arts Cure Center.
